THE OMELET SEQUENCE - (pics 08-2015)     ... in process


The shock affect of the phantasmagoric omelet 'face' was enhanced by two preceding events  - one directly connected: the breaking of the egg; one not connected: the balancing bread, happened four days before, was different in nature but equally unusual and thus equally (but in a different way) shocking. The proximity of three unusual events - two intimately connected and the third equally strange - began to evoke a paranoid state of 'haunting'.

The sequence is shown below, starting with the most recent 'end-point' : the omelet face ....

 

OMELET INCIDENT - FINALE: THE FACE

A cut a big tomato in halves and put them in the frying-pan, she then poured in the whipped eggs (neither were placed or poured with positional intention) - she was shocked when the egg flowed around the tomatoes and the slightly convex pan centre, and a big face was laughing up at her !


Of course, for our inherited brain, wherever there is visual chaos there is potential for seeing a face. Also, in this case there was a reinforcement - this sudden apparition of an 'idiot-prankster' seemed an appropriate finale(?) for the sequence of unusual/notable events shown here.

OMELET INCIDENT - THE EGG WITH A HOLE

A lifted the third egg and its yolk was left in the box - she discovered the end of its shell was already broken off (a mouth-like hole).

ANCILLARY INCIDENT (4 DAYS PREVIOUSLY) - UNCONNECTED TO THE OMELET (EXCEPT BY 'AMOUNT OF IMPROBABILITY'): THE DROPPED & BALANCING BREAD

A was sitting close to the breakfast table, a piece of brittle toast broke in her hand, when she pulled away from the table to retrieve it from the floor she saw its pieces were balanced securely and centrally on the bar of the table's 'gate-leg'. It seemed extremely unlikely that the broken bread could fall from such a height and land securely on something so narrow (2cm), and more than doubly unlikely that the two pieces had landed there. 
This was four days before the omelet and had no external connection with it, however the 'shock-reality' of the 'Face' was perhaps enhanced by this previous improbable event whose successful execution had seemed to require intentional manipulation - thus superstition began to break cover and perceive 'a haunting'! It seems the background memory of a merely implied presence fed the scary sense that the Face was this same 'manipulator' manifesting itself intentionally and personally !
These three incidents, which in the external realm are essentially unconnected or connected in the context of structures too large to perceive, are grouped together by a mind evolved to distill/extract/deduce meaning-forms from its body's environment. This three-part (or will there be more!) sequence is a psychological/physical artifact abstracted from the 'chaos' of external events.
